"From the first, the angels were invoked in the Legion prayers. As time went on the appropriateness of the recourse to the angels became more evident. It was realized that the angels are a heavenly counterpart of the legionary campaign. Every legionary, active and auxiliary, has a guardian angel who fights blow for blow at his side." (Handbook; 24, 6) Angels do not have man's shortcomings, and can therefore act for God and represent Him when communicating with men and women. They bridge the huge gap between the holiness and perfection of God in heaven and the shortcomings of dying people on this planet. Angels were made immortal (that is, never to die). Their
eternal quality was spoken of by Jesus when he said: The memorial of the Guardian Angels occurs on October 2nd.
