The Immaculate Heart of Mary

In one of the first apparitions of Fatima in 1917, our Lady said that Lucy must remain on earth a while longer to spread devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

In the third apparition at Fatima, July 13, 1917, our Lady told Lucy: " I ask the consecration of the world to my Immaculate Heart and Communion of reparation on the First Saturday of each month......In the end my Immaculate Heart will triumph and an era of peace will be conceded to humanity."

On October 31, 1942, Pope Pius XII, obeyed the message of Fatima and consecrated the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Pope Paul VI and Pope John Paul II renewed the same consecration.

Pope Pius XII instituted the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1945, to be celebrated on August 22. Today the Feast is celebrated on the Saturday following the Second Sunday of Pentecost.

Novena Prayer

O Most Blessed Mother, heart of love, heart of mercy, ever listening, caring, consoling, hear our prayer. As your children, we implore your intercession with Jesus your Son. Receive with understanding and compassion the petitions we place before you today, especially ...(special intention).

We are comforted in knowing your heart is ever open to those who ask for your prayer. We trust to your gentle care and intercession, those whom we love and who are sick or lonely or hurting. Help all of us, Holy Mother, to bear our burdens in this life until we may share eternal life and peace with God forever.
Amen.
